(ALOH) is a Santa Clarita-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing healing and freedom for youth 14-26 years of age. While there is an emphasis on substance abuse and addiction, help is offered for a wide range of life challenges faced by teens and young adults (e.g., eating disorders, cutting, depression). The Centers for Disease Control &amp; Prevention\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/drugoverdose\/epidemic\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(CDC) reported<\/a>\u00a0that overdose deaths from opioids, including heroin and prescription opioids (e.g., oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone), have more than quadrupled since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>Santa Clarita is not immune. We lost 11 lives to heroin overdose in 2015. And in a single 24-hour period this past April, overdose claimed the life of one person and sent seven people to the emergency room. (Source:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/signalscv.com\/2017\/04\/25\/heroin-kills-2-scv-threatens-lives-7-others-24-hour-period\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Signal<\/a>)<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newglobaladventures.net\/bethelight\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/06\/edvisits_300x300.jpg\" alt=\"CDC Info\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"CDC Info\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/bethelight5k.com\/register\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\t\n\tWhy &#8220;Be the Light&#8221;?<\/a><\/h3>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>We&#8217;re taking a stand against the devastation caused by youth substance abuse and other self-destructive behaviors by raising much-needed funds to support the work of A Light of Hope in our community.
